AI Software Engineering Co-op – Rockwell Automation (Hybrid)

Join Rockwell Automation as an AI software engineering co-op developing AI-enabled applications, services, and integrations. Support enterprise-scale industrial automation software initiatives while gaining experience across the software development lifecycle.

Description

  • Contribute to AI-focused software development projects.
  • Create AI-enabled solutions that improve software quality, security, delivery speed, and engineering productivity.
  • Partner with software engineers, AI advocates, architects, and engineering leaders.
  • Support practical projects for enterprise-scale industrial automation software.
  • Collaborate with development teams in professional software engineering environments.
  • Build experience with the full development lifecycle, agile practices, system design, test-driven development, test automation, and build and configuration management.
  • Develop applications, services, and integrations with modern engineering methods and AI technologies.
  • Take part in networking opportunities and company activities.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's or advanced degree at an accredited college or university.
  • Authorized to work legally in the United States; Rockwell Automation will not sponsor employment visas for this position now or in the future.
  • Available to work full-time for 6–8 months, from January through August 2027 or June through December 2027.
  • Pursuing a bachelor's or advanced degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline at an accredited college or university.
  • Expected to graduate in May 2028 or later, or in December 2027 if the co-op begins in January 2027.
  • Proficient in at least one programming language, such as Angular/Node, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Kotlin, Go, or Python.
  • Exposure to generative AI tools, large language models, AI agents, machine learning concepts, or prompt engineering is a plus.
  • Some experience with Angular, React, or other modern web application frameworks.
  • Familiarity with GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot, Azure AI Services, and cloud-native technologies.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps tools, and test automation frameworks.
  • Experience with industrial automation software, PLC development, or manufacturing technologies.
