Actuarial Intern, College Program

Support Marsh Re by analyzing client data, modeling actuarial risks, and evaluating reinsurance transactions. Contribute to client insights, proposal development, and strategic projects for major insurers.

Description

  • Analyze client data and validate its reasonableness
  • Apply actuarial methods to perform calculations
  • Share findings with senior colleagues and clearly explain client risks
  • Calculate risk exposures and projected outcomes to support reinsurance transactions
  • Support proposal presentations for current and prospective clients
  • Research industry and specialty trends affecting reinsurance programs and calculations
  • Use MetaRisk to develop and optimize customized reinsurance transactions
  • Assess effects on clients’ capital, growth, and volatility objectives
  • Complete one or two focused projects supporting internal initiatives
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to provide strategic insights to major insurers
  • Help foster an inclusive workplace

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification
  • All majors are considered; STEM-focused majors are preferred
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
  • Strong problem-solving ability and financial aptitude
  • Effective communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to explain complex technical analyses and concepts clearly
  • Curious, proactive approach to work
  • Ability to complete internal initiatives and research projects
  • Collaborative, team-focused working style with strong interpersonal skills
  • Highly organized and attentive to detail
  • Programming or data-visualization experience is an advantage
  • Interest in or progress toward Casualty Actuarial Society exams is an advantage
  • Relevant previous work experience is a plus
  • Passing at least one actuarial exam is a plus
  • Technical experience with a reinsurance broker, market, or catastrophe-modeling software provider is an advantage
  • Previous experience in insurance or reinsurance is an advantage
  • Understanding of reinsurance products and the industry is an advantage
