Assistant Finance Manager - Houston (Hybrid)
Lead finance operations, forecasting, and project accounting for Wood’s Onshore Projects division in Houston. Oversee month-end close, financial controls, reporting, and a small accounting team.

- Serve as the primary finance contact for the Onshore Projects division while leading a small team of accountants
- Direct the month-end close, including revenue and cost accruals, gross margin analysis, balance sheet reconciliations, and month-end financial packages
- Assess commercial agreements, approved rates, and required authorizations to support accurate financial accounting
- Provide project accounting guidance during project kickoffs and monthly project review meetings
- Partner with Project Controls to structure projects around contractual requirements, revenue recognition points, and billing milestones
- Review project expenditure and record accruals for unrecorded costs to preserve accurate project margins
- Evaluate variation orders and potential variation orders and confirm their appropriate accounting treatment
- Ensure revenue recognition and billing milestones are recorded appropriately
- Track project costs, pass-through costs, unbilled amounts, and billing activity for reporting and invoicing
- Conduct margin analysis covering cost rates versus selling rates, as well as mix and volume variances
- Develop full-project forecasts through completion and compare expected results with the original as-sold position
- Analyze contingencies and incorporate releases or increases into project accounting
- Prepare budgets and forecasts for assigned service lines
- Lead coordination with internal and external auditors for relevant audits
आवश्यकताएँ
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Economics, or a related field
- Required professional accounting qualification such as CA; CPA or CMA certification is an asset
- At least seven years of full-cycle accounting experience with a demonstrated track record
- Ideally, experience in an engineering consultancy or oil and gas project setting
- Experience with ERP platforms, including Oracle and EPM/FCC
- Strong numerical and analytical capabilities
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs
- Thorough knowledge of project accounting, revenue recognition, cost accounting, and financial reporting
- Excellent time management and the ability to meet month-end reporting deadlines
- Strong written and spoken English communication skills
- Ability to produce high-quality monthly reports
- Ability to organize and deliver timely financial information to stakeholders and Project Managers
- Demonstrated ability to explain and influence the use of project accounting principles with non-finance colleagues
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with diverse professionals in a team environment
