Staff or Principal Backend Engineer at Ajaib (Hybrid)
Lead backend architecture and engineering standards across multiple teams at Ajaib, a fintech company in Indonesia. Build secure, reliable, scalable distributed systems while guiding technical strategy and mentoring engineers.
Tavsif
- Set long-term technical architecture and engineering direction across multiple teams
- Lead the design and evolution of secure, fault-tolerant distributed systems at scale
- Assess critical system designs and advise on high-impact architectural initiatives
- Define engineering practices for software design, reliability, observability, security, and performance
- Work with Engineering Managers and technical leaders to resolve complex cross-team challenges
- Mentor senior engineers and strengthen technical expertise across the organization
- Evaluate technical risks and trade-offs, making technology decisions that support business objectives
- Direct technical investigations, root-cause analysis, and ongoing improvements for large-scale production systems
- Partner with Product, Platform, Infrastructure, Security, and Business teams
- Contribute hands-on code for critical architecture and complex technical challenges
Talablar
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience
- Substantial professional experience in software engineering
- Demonstrated success building large-scale distributed systems and leading architecture across multiple engineering domains
- Advanced proficiency in Java, Go, or another modern backend language
- Strong knowledge of microservices, event-driven systems, cloud-native design, reliability engineering, observability, and performance optimization
- Hands-on experience with Kafka, Redis, and relational or NoSQL databases, including query tuning
- Experience designing and operating systems across GCP, AWS, and hybrid environments
- Background in fintech or other large-scale, highly regulated settings
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence technical decisions without direct authority
