Tavsif

  • Develop species range maps for marine and anadromous taxa in accordance with the FWS Range Mapping Standard Operating Procedure
  • Review the FWS Range Mapping SOP by project kickoff or earlier
  • Compile and standardize spatial data generated by cloud platforms
  • Perform coordinate reference system conversions and spatial format normalization
  • Verify spatial intersections against authoritative geographic layers
  • Resolve dynamic habitat boundaries and overlapping Critical Habitat designations
  • Lead iterative range-map reviews with FWS Ecological Services and NOAA Fisheries subject-matter experts
  • Apply stakeholder feedback and issue updated map versions
  • Prepare quality-assurance documentation for every range map
  • Confirm maps satisfy SOP acceptance requirements before government submission
  • Coordinate FWS Ecological Services approval of the Range Map Set deliverable
  • Help maintain updated range maps during the operational handoff and documentation process

Talablar

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 8 years of professional experience; master’s degree plus 6 years; associate’s degree plus 10 years; or high school diploma or equivalent plus 12 years
  • U.S. citizenship
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
  • Ability to perform all work from within the United States
  • Advanced GIS experience in species range mapping or federal environmental applications
  • Hands-on experience with the FWS Range Mapping SOP or comparable federal range-mapping standards
  • Proficiency with ArcGIS, QGIS, or a comparable GIS platform
  • Proficiency in Python for GIS automation and spatial processing, including ArcPy or a comparable scripting library
  • Proficiency in SQL for querying and validating spatial data in cloud platforms
  • Experience transforming coordinate reference systems and normalizing spatial data
  • Experience validating spatial intersections and analyzing Critical Habitat
  • Strong quality-assurance documentation skills for geospatial deliverables
  • Preferred: Experience working with NOAA Fisheries marine or anadromous species range data
  • Preferred: Familiarity with Databricks or other cloud platforms used to retrieve spatial data
  • Preferred: Experience managing formal government deliverable approvals
  • Preferred: GISP certification or an equivalent credential
