Part-Time PNT Research and Development Engineer in Dayton, Ohio

Part-time senior technical advisor supporting GPS, timing, navigation, and flight-test research at the Air Force Institute of Technology. Help advance autonomy and navigation technologies for Mission Technologies, a division of HII.

Tavsif

  • Provide senior technical guidance on GPS, timing, two-way time transfer, navigation integration, technology development, and flight testing.
  • Support faculty and graduate students at the Air Force Institute of Technology’s ANT Center.
  • Collaborate with faculty, students, and research engineers to assess algorithms and tools for autonomy and advanced navigation projects.
  • Examine laboratory and flight-test plans.
  • Propose and rank technology developments for testing and assessment.
  • Contribute directly to algorithm and system-performance evaluations.
  • Advance research in autonomy, navigation, and defense technology.
  • Operate in a secure, customer-facing setting at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.

Talablar

  • Bachelor’s degree in aeronautical or astronautical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 10 years of professional experience in GPS, timing, two-way time transfer, navigation integration, flight testing, or related research.
  • Experience with PNT technologies, including GNSS, inertial navigation and air-data systems, GPS performance in degraded environments, anti-jam GPS, flight testing, and aircraft timing or two-way time-transfer methods.
  • Capability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Practical, hands-on problem-solving approach.
  • Willingness to participate actively in algorithm and system-performance evaluations.
  • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance; an existing Secret clearance is preferred.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Federal contract requirements prohibit work-visa sponsorship and employment of individuals with Green Card, permanent-resident, asylee, or refugee status.
  • Preferred: master’s degree in aeronautical or astronautical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Preferred: at least 20 years of experience in relevant PNT research.
  • Preferred: active Secret clearance when applying.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods at a computer workstation.
  • Ability to occasionally lift approximately 25 pounds.
  • Ability to enter data-center or laboratory environments, including bending, stooping, and climbing short ladders.
  • Ability to travel occasionally when required.
