Mechanical Engineer, AI Hardware Systems

Shape Normal Computing’s AI inference hardware, from accelerator to rack, for its applied AI and silicon infrastructure products. Lead thermal design, mechanical integration, manufacturability, qualification, and supplier builds.

Tavsif

  • Lead electromechanical design of inference hardware from engineering configuration through deployable product.
  • Set product form factor, thermal solution and airflow, connectors and cabling, and power and thermal limits.
  • Create mechanical definitions for shipped products, including assembly structure, bill of materials, and component envelopes.
  • Spot assembly, cooling, and serviceability issues before parts are ordered.
  • Integrate compute, host platform, networking, and power mechanically within the chassis.
  • Check airflow and thermal performance with the system fully populated.
  • Design live rack systems for technician access and servicing.
  • Specify rack configuration, power distribution, cabling, weight and blanking plans, and mounting methods.
  • Release drawings and bills of materials; ensure manufacturability, lead supplier engineering reviews, and resolve build failures.
  • Assess how design and supplier decisions affect cost and lead times.
  • Bring up and validate physical hardware in the lab.
  • Lead mechanical and thermal qualification, including test specifications and procedures.
  • Conduct shock, vibration, and thermal cycling tests.
  • Trace lab and field failures to their root causes.
  • Coordinate safety and EMC certification and environmental compliance with electrical engineers and the test lab.
  • Work with silicon, systems, and deployment engineers, as well as external design and manufacturing partners.

Talablar

  • At least six years of experience, or equivalent shipped work, owning accelerator or server hardware.
  • Experience taking a relevant design from prototype through qualification and production.
  • Strong mechanical design skills using SolidWorks, Creo, NX, or similar tools.
  • Experience with finite element analysis, tolerance analysis, and design for manufacturing.
  • Hands-on experience designing and validating thermal systems for server or accelerator hardware.
  • Experience integrating server hardware into standard chassis and racks.
  • Electrical fluency to interpret schematics and work with electrical engineers on power and interconnect integration.
  • Experience directing external design or manufacturing partners.
  • Experience turning industrial design concepts and appearance models into production mechanical designs is a bonus.
  • Experience shipping hardware to external customers, including certification, documentation, and service obligations, is a bonus.
  • Experience with soft and hard tooling decisions and fixture and test setup design is a bonus.
  • Experience integrating liquid cooling into server or rack systems is a bonus.
  • Experience designing to Open Compute Project or other open modular server and rack architectures is a bonus.

Imtiyozlar

  • Equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion.
  • Reasonable accommodations are available for individuals with disabilities.
