Senior Python Engineer (Sofia, Hybrid)
Build scalable Python backend services and APIs at Avenga, an international engineering firm applying AI-native technology across industries.
Descriere
- Develop and maintain scalable Python backend applications and services.
- Build and integrate RESTful APIs and microservices.
- Create robust, efficient, and maintainable software architectures.
- Produce clean, reusable, well-structured code with thorough test coverage.
- Work across teams to define technical requirements and deliver features.
- Design and improve database schemas, queries, and data access patterns.
- Diagnose and address performance, technical, and scalability issues.
- Implement security, authentication, and authorization controls.
- Create and maintain automated unit, integration, and functional tests.
- Review code and encourage strong engineering practices.
- Guide technical discussions and help shape architectural decisions.
- Assist with CI/CD, releases, monitoring, and production issue resolution.
- Coach junior and mid-level developers and share knowledge.
- Own technical solutions across the full software development lifecycle.
Cerințe
- At least five years of professional software development experience, including substantial hands-on Python work.
- Advanced Python skills, including object-oriented and asynchronous programming and current language features.
- Strong experience with FastAPI, Django, or Flask.
- Experience building and maintaining REST APIs and backend services.
- Knowledge of software design principles, design patterns, and clean architecture.
- Experience with PostgreSQL or MySQL.
- Familiarity with MongoDB or Redis.
- Experience using SQLAlchemy or Django ORM.
- Understanding of microservices, distributed systems, and service-oriented architecture.
- Experience with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and modern development workflows.
- Familiarity with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Knowledge of automated testing with Pytest or unittest.
- Experience with Git and collaborative development practices.
- Understanding of application security, performance tuning, logging, and error handling.
- Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving abilities.
- Able to make technical decisions independently and take ownership of complex development work.
- Good English communication skills and experience working with international teams.
- Able to work from the client’s Sofia office about two days per week.
- Helpful additional experience includes Kubernetes, message brokers, event-driven or serverless architectures, GraphQL or WebSockets, Terraform, monitoring and observability tools, Pandas or NumPy, high-load systems, and Agile/Scrum.
