- Act as GuideWell’s senior authority for external affairs and stakeholder communications
- Create and maintain an annual communications plan tied to enterprise narratives, legislative and regulatory calendars, and organizational objectives
- Lead the design and execution of the external affairs communications program
- Develop public affairs and policy communications strategies spanning federal, state, and local priorities
- Create messaging on healthcare policy, regulatory matters, and legislative initiatives
- Turn complex policy developments into clear, accessible messages for policymakers and their staff
- Coordinate with Government Affairs to connect communications and advocacy efforts
- Prepare and review comment letters, position papers, and policy briefs
- Track policy and regulatory developments and brief senior leaders on emerging concerns
- Identify key external stakeholders and tailor engagement approaches to each audience
- Cultivate relationships with community leaders, advocacy groups, health system partners, local business organizations, governments, and industry associations
- Create community impact communications and campaigns, including “Blue in Your Backyard”
- Set coalition strategies and mobilize credible third-party voices
- Lead communications planning for relationships with BCBSA, AHIP, and other industry associations
- Incorporate industry association messages and resources into GuideWell’s broader communications approach
- Collaborate with Enterprise Communications, Government Affairs, Legal, Community Relations, and enterprise leadership
- Counsel enterprise leaders on policy, regulatory affairs, community engagement, and stakeholder relationships
- Prepare executives for policy meetings and interactions with external stakeholders
- Establish performance measures and present results to senior leadership
- Oversee the regional strategic public relations agency and guide hyperlocal storytelling in Florida communities
Cerințe
- At least six years of relevant professional experience
- Progressive experience in public affairs, government relations communications, corporate communications, or stakeholder engagement
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Policy, Political Science, Public Relations, or a related discipline, or equivalent additional relevant experience
- Extensive knowledge of healthcare policy, regulatory conditions, and stakeholders affecting health insurers and integrated healthcare organizations
- Demonstrated success creating persuasive policy and advocacy narratives for sophisticated external audiences
- Ability to explain complex regulatory and legislative topics clearly without losing important nuance
- Experience partnering with government affairs or lobbying teams
- Ability to communicate effectively in legally and politically sensitive environments
- Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to earn trust with challenging, high-profile audiences
- Proactive approach to anticipating issues and assessing stakeholder and policy landscapes
- Ability to contribute as a senior individual contributor across a broad scope
- Preferred: Experience with Florida’s healthcare market, the BCBS system, or managed care and health plan organizations
- Preferred: Direct experience with state or federal legislative or regulatory bodies, or government affairs consulting
- Preferred: Established relationships with Florida or national healthcare policy stakeholders
- Preferred: Familiarity with community investment, CSR communications, or nonprofit stakeholder engagement
- Preferred: Experience forming or leading coalitions
- Preferred: Experience managing an external PR agency against strategic objectives
- Preferred: Master’s degree in Communications, Public Policy, Political Science, or a related field
- Ability to travel to various locations for meetings, events, and conferences
