Senior Communications Specialist, URochester Medicine (Hybrid)

Descriere

  • Lead strategy and create complex content for the Communications Content Hub as a subject-matter expert and writer.
  • Plan and deliver integrated communications with Marketing and Web Services colleagues.
  • Write news and feature stories, magazine and newsletter articles, website copy, releases, media alerts, video scripts, leadership announcements, infographics, and presentations.
  • Create pamphlets, brochures, bulletins, fliers, and other materials with support from the Creative team.
  • Edit print and online publications, produce newsletters, manage editorial calendars and guidelines, interview patients or staff, draft articles and headlines, and copy-edit content.
  • Advise faculty and organizational leaders on communications and messaging.
  • Plan and carry out editorial communications for programs, initiatives, and events.
  • Monitor progress and engagement, then report activities and results to leadership.
  • Promote local and national coverage through releases, media events and pitches, calls, opinion pieces, and feature stories.
  • Handle media inquiries, arrange interviews, prepare statements, answer questions, and take part in a rotating after-hours media on-call schedule.
  • Help cover complex stories and major departmental announcements.
  • Support leaders and chairs with communications planning and messaging, including speeches, talking points, announcements, and memos.
  • Coordinate daily, weekly, and monthly communications work with team priorities.
  • Attend assigned meetings and contribute to other writing and editing projects.

Cerințe

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, or a related field, plus five years of relevant experience; equivalent education and experience combinations are accepted.
  • Demonstrated ability to write and edit content for specific audiences.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Comfort communicating with faculty and staff at all levels and speaking before groups.
  • Preferred: understanding of and compliance with HIPAA and URochester Medicine policies for safeguarding patient privacy and confidential information.
  • Preferred: ability to add context to or reshape material as needed.
  • Preferred: knowledge of or experience contributing to social media platforms.
  • Preferred experience in HTML, content management systems, data analysis, metrics presentations, photo or video capture and editing, and/or graphic design.
  • Preferred: strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Preferred: ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team.
  • Availability for overnight or weekend work, including rotating media on-call duties for approximately three to four weeks per year.
