Android Software Engineer at Garmin Cluj (Hybrid)

Build Garmin Explore Android applications for mapping, tracking, trip planning, and satellite communication. Work with Kotlin as part of Garmin’s end-to-end product development teams.

Descriere

  • Design and implement software components as part of larger projects.
  • Support the growth of less experienced Software Engineers through mentoring and guidance.
  • Participate in peer code reviews by offering constructive comments and recommendations.
  • Estimate development effort, assess comparable technology options, and suggest process improvements.
  • Investigate technical root causes and define corrective actions for identified issues.
  • Develop Android applications with the Android SDK and Kotlin using established tools and best practices.
  • Help develop the Garmin Explore Outdoor App, including online and offline maps, real-time tracking, trip planning, satellite messaging, over-the-air weather, and SOS satellite communication.

Cerințe

  • Strong knowledge of Kotlin, the Android SDK, Jetpack Compose, Android Studio, object-oriented programming, data structures, and algorithms.
  • At least three years of Android development experience.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
  • Professional proficiency in English.
  • Bluetooth or BLE stack experience is advantageous.
  • Previous mentoring experience is advantageous.
