Lead Substation Engineer, Texas Remote

Apraksts

  • Lead substation engineering and design for utility, renewable energy, and industrial transmission and distribution projects.
  • Oversee substation physical design, protection and control integration, grounding, equipment layouts, and power delivery systems.
  • Develop and review one-line diagrams, protection schemes, equipment specifications, construction packages, and design documents.
  • Apply engineering expertise from planning and conceptual design through detailed design, procurement, and construction support.
  • Contribute to grounding, equipment sizing, fault current, and substation design studies and analyses.
  • Establish standards for engineering processes and practices.
  • Lead engineering work and coordinate multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Help plan projects, coordinate resources, review technical work, and support execution.
  • Oversee substation upgrades, expansions, brownfield modifications, and greenfield projects.
  • Work with project managers to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Advise construction teams, clarify designs, and resolve field issues.
  • Develop relationships with utility, renewable energy, and industrial clients.
  • Take part in client meetings, technical workshops, presentations, and project reviews.
  • Help prepare proposals, define scopes, develop cost estimates, and support project pursuits.
  • Find ways to expand services and strengthen client partnerships.
  • Work with regional and national teams on strategic growth initiatives.
  • Mentor engineers and designers, supporting their technical development and knowledge sharing.
  • Coordinate with civil, structural, transmission, protection and control, and program management teams.
  • Advance engineering practices and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Promote technical excellence, innovation, safety, and collaboration.

Prasības

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field and 10+ years of experience, or equivalent experience and/or education.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Background supporting transmission and distribution substation projects.
  • Knowledge of electrical engineering principles, utility infrastructure, and power delivery systems.
  • Experience leading engineering work, reviewing technical deliverables, and coordinating project teams.
  • Experience with industry standards and codes, including IEEE, NESC, and NEC.
  • Experience with engineering and design software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, ETAP, Aspen, CAPE, or similar tools.
  • Willingness to travel periodically for project, client, and team needs.
  • Visa sponsorship is unavailable for this role now and in the future.
  • An advanced degree in Engineering or a related technical field is preferred.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and client relationship skills.
  • Experience supporting utility, renewable energy, grid modernization, or energy transition projects.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to technical leadership initiatives.
  • Familiarity with substation physical design, protection and control systems, SCADA integration, or related power system applications.
