IT Director (Hybrid, Reading, UK)

Lead Oxford Quantum Circuits’ global IT strategy, infrastructure, security, and technology operations. Build scalable capabilities that support the international growth of a quantum computing company.

Apraksts

  • Set and execute OQC’s global IT strategy and roadmap, aligning technology investment, infrastructure, capabilities, growth objectives, business priorities, and budgets
  • Build a scalable global IT function
  • Manage and develop the IT and networking team
  • Own the full technology estate, including infrastructure, networking, cloud environments, business systems, end-user technology, Help Desk services, assets, and software licensing
  • Improve information security and operational resilience
  • Create the Information Security roadmap and lead compliance with ISO 27001 and SOC 2
  • Establish dependable backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity capabilities
  • Lead technology transformation by simplifying the technology environment, improving information flow, automating processes, and introducing emerging technologies such as AI
  • Implement practical IT governance through effective policies, controls, and standards
  • Oversee IT budgets, software and hardware suppliers, procurement, SLAs, and technology programmes
  • Work closely with the Executive team and business leaders

Prasības

  • Extensive experience leading IT within a medium-sized global technology company or another technically complex organisation
  • Experience building and scaling hybrid in-house and outsourced IT operations, including recruiting, developing, and leading high-performing technical teams
  • Broad ownership of IT environments spanning infrastructure, networking, support, cloud platforms, information security, and business systems
  • Practical experience implementing and operating under ISO 27001 and/or SOC 2 frameworks
  • Strong knowledge of cybersecurity, data protection, and technology risk management
  • Solid technical knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, and VPN technologies
  • Experience with Windows and Linux environments, identity management, servers, and cloud technologies
  • Experience designing and testing disaster recovery, backup, and business continuity plans in business-critical environments
  • Strong commercial and leadership skills covering budgets, suppliers, procurement, stakeholder management, and complex IT programme delivery
  • Ability to travel to OQC’s Reading offices within approximately one hour when needed
  • Ability to support users across the UK, EU, APAC, and USA in a 24/7 operating environment
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally and join out-of-hours calls
