Senior Ruby on Rails Backend Engineer
Build and scale Ruby on Rails applications for a growing AI technology company. Own backend features from design through production, with a focus on architecture, performance, and reliability.

- Build and maintain scalable Ruby on Rails backend applications.
- Partner with product managers and engineering colleagues to turn requirements into technical solutions.
- Plan integrations, break down development work, and estimate effort.
- Create features and improve existing application capabilities.
- Write clean, efficient, maintainable, well-tested production code.
- Contribute to pull requests, peer reviews, and software testing.
- Diagnose application issues and strengthen performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Take part in architecture discussions, technical decisions, and product roadmap planning.
- Lead complex backend features from requirements through deployment.
- Find and remove technical bottlenecks as demand increases.
- Evaluate technologies, frameworks, and development approaches.
- Work with distributed engineering, infrastructure, SRE, and product teams.
- Improve development processes, code quality, and system architecture.
Reikalavimai
- At least five years of commercial experience as a backend or full-stack software engineer.
- Recent, hands-on experience building and maintaining production applications with Ruby on Rails.
- Ability to independently design, build, and deliver complex backend features.
- Experience with applications serving thousands or more monthly active users.
- Strong knowledge of scalable backend architecture, application performance, and system reliability.
- Experience delivering software through the full lifecycle, from requirements analysis and implementation to testing and production deployment.
- Background in a technology startup, scale-up, or similarly fast-paced agile environment.
- Ability to adjust to changing priorities, meet deadlines, and uphold strong engineering standards.
- Sound grounding in software engineering principles, clean code, and automated testing.
- Experience reviewing code and collaborating across development teams.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with a proactive approach to technical problems.
- Ability to work independently, own technical deliverables, and contribute to engineering decisions.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Experience working effectively with international, fully remote teams.
- Based in Europe and able to overlap with CET by up to three hours.
