Senior User Terminal Systems Engineer at Telesat - Ottawa Hybrid

Support Telesat’s Lightspeed satellite network as a User Terminal Systems Engineer. Develop, integrate, verify, and document advanced satellite communications terminal solutions.

  • Maintain User Terminal requirements, product requirements documents, interfaces, and technical specifications
  • Update requirements, assess compliance, and map requirements to tests across terminal hardware, modems, and software
  • Participate in supplier meetings, workshops, requirements reviews, design reviews, and integration activities
  • Review supplier documentation and monitor technical actions, interfaces, risks, deliverables, and verification status
  • Help define CONOPS and requirements for fixed, mobility, and maritime applications
  • Prepare and review CDRLs, test plans, procedures, reports, compliance matrices, verification records, presentations, and technical reports
  • Support laboratory integration, testing, demonstrations, troubleshooting, and acceptance activities
  • Contribute to contractual reviews, bids, proposals, design work, and customer deliverables
  • Help update Capella operational and functional architectures
  • Work with general supervision while developing greater independence
  • Make routine technical decisions within defined requirements, processes, and scope
  • Escalate decisions involving significant architectural, contractual, safety, cost, or schedule implications
  • Coordinate assigned tasks within the defined scope

Талаптар

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, computer, systems, aerospace engineering, or a related technical discipline
  • Six to nine years of relevant engineering experience in systems engineering, satellite communications, telecommunications, aerospace, secure communications, networking, or a related field
  • Experience contributing to complex multidisciplinary product development across requirements, design, integration, verification, and delivery
  • Working knowledge of systems engineering, requirements management, technical documentation, integration, and verification
  • Foundational understanding of satellite communications, telecommunications, networking, RF, embedded systems, or software-intensive products
  • Ability to assess technical information, follow engineering processes, and create clear, accurate documentation
  • Experience with Jama, DOORS, Capella, Jira, Confluence, or comparable tools is an asset
  • Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, communication, and detail-oriented skills
  • Availability for occasional domestic and international travel
  • Flexibility for occasional schedule changes to support testing or collaboration across time zones
