Senior Rail Infrastructure Consultant - Germany Remote
Senior Consultant supporting rail infrastructure planning, operations, maintenance, and digital transformation initiatives. The role combines technology, data, organizational design, and project management for an international consultancy.

- Help advance the rail and infrastructure consulting portfolio
- Build technical and methodological expertise across infrastructure engagements
- Assess, improve, and digitize infrastructure planning, operations, maintenance, and control processes
- Create business, process, and target operating models for digital transformation in rail and infrastructure
- Support technology and data solution design and delivery across IoT, analytics, automation, signaling, and energy systems
- Assess and develop organizational, governance, and operating models for infrastructure organizations
- Help establish contemporary steering, monitoring, and management systems for infrastructure portfolios
- Manage projects and sub-projects across traditional, hybrid, and agile delivery environments
- Design and lead workshops, training sessions, and change initiatives across the infrastructure value chain
- Spot emerging topics, data-led improvement opportunities, and new business potential in rail and infrastructure
- Develop decision-ready recommendations and deliver results collaboratively with the team

- Master’s degree, MBA, PhD, or another excellent university qualification
- At least four years of experience in consulting, project management, or infrastructure planning, operations, or maintenance
- Demonstrated expertise spanning infrastructure, technology, mobility, and digital transformation
- Practical experience assessing and implementing domain-specific initiatives in infrastructure, operations, or maintenance
- Structured and strategic approach with strong conceptual skills and knowledge of organizational, process, or operating models
- Sound command of relevant consulting and project management methods
- Ability to work effectively with interdisciplinary engineering, operations, procurement, production, and IT teams
- Innovative, self-directed, accountable, and willing to travel as project requirements dictate
- Certifications such as PMP, PRINCE2, Scrum, or ITIL are relevant
- Business-fluent German and English; additional languages are beneficial
- Understanding of track systems, facilities, signaling, energy systems, and infrastructure system architectures
- Experience with digital infrastructure models and data structures, including GIS, LiDAR, BIM, asset condition, and network condition models
- Knowledge of current infrastructure standards, life-cycle management, monitoring, predictive maintenance, and maintenance practices
- Experience delivering data-driven infrastructure solutions, meeting reporting and transparency requirements, and supporting complex digitalization or migration programs
