  • Lead grid and interconnection analytics for distributed solar and battery storage projects.
  • Develop data tools and analyses to evaluate grid capacity, costs, schedules, and operating limits.
  • Assess and prioritize interconnection points and advise on project feasibility.
  • Secure queue positions and move applications through utility reviews and the interconnection process.
  • Conduct screening-level power-flow and hosting-capacity analyses on distribution and sub-transmission networks.
  • Define and manage studies conducted by utilities or consultants.
  • Analyze hosting-capacity and queue data, utility filings, study results, and market conditions to identify development regions.
  • Evaluate candidate substations, feeders, and line taps, and prepare and submit pre-applications and applications.
  • Recommend whether to proceed with interconnection during site due diligence.
  • Manage interconnection and study agreements, deposits, milestones, and cost responsibilities.
  • Develop flexible interconnection options, such as export or charging limits, curtailment, DC-coupled systems, and storage additions to queued solar projects.
  • Build relationships with utility interconnection teams and coordinate with utilities and grid operators.
  • Maintain automated hosting-capacity and queue-data tools, GIS maps, and interconnection inputs for site scorecards and project trackers.
  • Interpret utility studies and advise on project downsizing.
  • Set benchmarks for interconnection costs and schedules.
  • Evaluate battery storage interconnection requirements and their effects on project business cases.
  • Convert interconnection costs, schedules, and design changes into financial-model inputs.
  • Advise on interconnection strategy, market entry, cost allocation, congestion risks, and mitigation.
  • Take part in utility and public utility commission working groups, and monitor rule changes and proceedings.
  • Maintain accurate interconnection records and report regularly on project status, schedules, budgets, and decisions.

Талаптар

  • 4–6 years of experience in interconnection, distribution or transmission planning, or grid analytics for solar or battery storage, including hands-on management of applications through study and agreement stages.
  • University degree in Electrical Engineering, preferably focused on power systems, Energy Systems, or a related quantitative field.
  • PE, P.Eng., or EIT designation is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical and technical skills paired with commercial judgment.
  • Working knowledge of state distribution interconnection rules, including those in Illinois and Virginia.
  • Working knowledge of PJM and MISO interconnection processes under FERC rules.
  • Experience with US investor-owned, cooperative, or municipal utilities; ISOs; RTOs; and public utility commissions is preferred.
  • Experience collaborating closely with engineering and technical teams, with an understanding of technical requirements and the project development cycle.
  • Experience with battery storage interconnection and utility-scale interconnection processes.
  • Understanding of hosting-capacity methods, cluster studies, flexible interconnection, curtailment, and generation shifting.
  • Thorough understanding of technical considerations and electrical theory.
  • Proficiency with grid modeling and simulation tools such as CYME, Synergi, OpenDSS, PSS/E, PowerFactory, or comparable software.
  • Python or SQL skills and advanced Excel proficiency are required.
  • Familiarity with Power BI or similar tools is an advantage.
  • Exposure to solar PV and battery storage financial models is an advantage.
  • Experience with utility interconnection portals, hosting-capacity maps, and GIS data using QGIS or ArcGIS.
  • Ability to independently own a function, structure ambiguous problems, document and verify data sources, and use AI tools and automation.
  • Willingness and ability to travel occasionally in the United States and Canada.
