  • Evaluate the bank’s internal control framework to help reduce operational, financial, and reputational risk
  • Work with stakeholders across the bank and business units to strengthen controls through assessments, procedures, and documented findings
  • Investigate control weaknesses and issues, then prioritise them according to severity
  • Prepare reports on risk assessment results, control weaknesses, and recommendations for control owners and senior stakeholders
  • Review the bank’s internal controls framework against relevant policies, regulations, and recognised best practice
  • Apply the Barclays Controls Framework and the appropriate control assessment methodology
  • Maintain governance and reporting structures for the PBWM Financial Crime Control Environment
  • Oversee Financial Key Risk Indicator reporting and related management information
  • Manage risk events and issues while conducting reviews across business areas
  • Interpret qualitative and quantitative information to provide conclusions for senior stakeholders
  • Promote continuous improvement through education and awareness informed by management information analysis
  • Coordinate papers for PBWM meetings and lead forums on behalf of senior leadership
  • Own and maintain database sources used for recurring senior leadership reports
  • Contribute to strategic transformation programmes that improve governance and risk management
  • Develop and sustain relationships with stakeholders across the organisation

  • Prior experience in a controls or governance position
  • Background in financial crime within a large-scale organisation
  • Proven success collaborating with people in varied organisational roles
  • Strong analytical capability focused on risk and control environments
  • Excellent organisation and multitasking skills, with a consistent record of meeting commitments
  • Highly effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex subjects to diverse audiences
  • Experience in risk and control, assurance, or audit settings, including interpreting risk, compliance, and operational procedures
  • Strong knowledge of financial crime regulations and applicable rules, policies, standards, and procedures
  • Understanding of private banking or wealth management is desirable
  • Ability to evaluate risk across business areas, products, processes, and platforms
  • Experience working with internal control frameworks, governance, reporting, risk events, and issues
