Director of Finance, Insurance Accounting
Build the finance and accounting infrastructure for Stonehaven Specialty Insurance Company, Ledgebrook’s new hybrid fronting carrier. Lead statutory, GAAP, bordereaux, and reinsurance accounting.

- Build Stonehaven’s finance and accounting infrastructure from the ground up.
- Establish the chart of accounts, general ledger, and month-end close process in line with the NAIC Annual Statement.
- Assess prospective MGA and program partners’ financial strength, premium handling, trust account practices, bordereaux, and financial reporting during due diligence.
- Review and approve incoming MGA and TPA bordereaux with Stonehaven Operations and Claims before Shared Services records them in the ledger.
- Maintain the integrity of financial data exchanged among Stonehaven and its MGA, TPA, and reinsurance partners.
- Oversee Shared Services transaction processing, including general ledger entries, accounts receivable and payable, cash, and bank reconciliations.
- Ensure statutory accounting and reporting are accurate, timely, and compliant with NAIC requirements.
- Manage bordereaux-based premium and loss accounting, reconciling it to cash, the ledger, and reinsurance cessions.
- Manage reinsurance accounting, including ceding commissions, recoverables, funds withheld, Schedule F, and support for risk-transfer testing.
- Manage fronting-fee revenue recognition and program-level economics reporting.
- Set capital-management practices that account for reinsurance credit risk and the claims-pay-then-recover liquidity buffer, and maintain the cash-flow model.
- Support the Reserve Committee, Audit Committee, and ORSA process.
- Report to the Chief Operating Officer and collaborate with Stonehaven Operations and Claims and Ledgebrook’s parent finance team.

- At least 10 years of finance or accounting experience in property and casualty insurance, including statutory and GAAP dual-basis reporting.
- Direct reinsurance accounting experience, including ceded premiums, recoverables, and Schedule F.
- Experience with Delegated Underwriting Authority programs, either at a program administrator or on the carrier side.
- CPA and property and casualty statutory accounting expertise preferred.
- Fronting or program-carrier finance experience preferred.
- Experience establishing finance infrastructure at a new or early-stage carrier preferred.
- Experience with rating agencies, particularly AM Best BCAR submissions, preferred.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.
