Virtual School Counselor - Florida (Remote)

Provide virtual counseling for Florida K–12 students across social-emotional development, academics, graduation, and career planning. Support ACCEL Schools’ tuition-free online public academy through individualized and group services.

Description

  • Support students’ social, emotional, and academic development
  • Collaborate with staff and families on individualized academic programming
  • Develop and maintain graduation and career plans
  • Deliver proactive guidance lessons to individuals and groups
  • Address individual and group needs through responsive counseling services and programs
  • Review transfer transcripts to recommend appropriate course placements
  • Maintain current student transcripts and support credit-award procedures
  • Deliver career-readiness lessons and support career-plan development
  • Teach Social-Emotional Learning curriculum
  • Develop and maintain Student 504 plans
  • Analyze student data to inform academic programs and interventions
  • Travel within Florida as needed for testing and school events
  • Complete other assigned duties

Requirements

  • Must reside in Florida
  • Hold a valid state counselor license
  • Bachelor’s degree with one year of counseling or advisement experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience using the ASCA model
  • Experience supporting K–12 online learning
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and mandated-reporting requirements
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace products
  • Ability to handle confidential information responsibly and preserve confidentiality
  • Ability to manage difficult or emotional situations and make evidence-based decisions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritize responsibilities, and consistently meet deadlines
  • Customer-service orientation
  • Ability to work independently and contribute effectively to a team
  • Ability to pass federal and state criminal background checks
  • Bilingual skills strongly preferred
