Structural Engineer, Environmental Engineering – Brown and Caldwell

Lead structural design for Brown and Caldwell’s water and wastewater infrastructure projects. Produce analyses, drawings, specifications, reports, and construction-phase support for environmental engineering work.

Description

  • Lead environmental engineering projects with strong technical expertise
  • Manage structural design and delivery responsibilities for the project structural team
  • Analyze and design concrete, steel, aluminum, and masonry structures
  • Assess existing conditions and document recommendations in technical reports
  • Develop structural drawings and specifications that meet applicable building codes
  • Collaborate across disciplines to resolve conflicts and maintain coordinated project delivery
  • Support construction through shop drawing reviews, RFI responses, change orders, and substitution requests
  • Adjust priorities and carry out assignments as project requirements evolve
  • Mentor and share technical knowledge with less experienced team members

Requirements

  • At least two years of relevant structural engineering or related experience
  • Experience with structural design and a detailed understanding of construction processes
  • Demonstrated experience reviewing shop drawings and responding to RFIs in construction settings
  • Fundamentals of Engineering exam passed or in progress for Engineer in Training registration
  • Intermediate capability in the analysis, design, and detailing of concrete, steel, aluminum, and masonry
  • Working knowledge of ACI 318, ACI 350, AISC 360, IBC, and ASCE 7 standards
  • Ability to investigate existing conditions and produce accurate technical reports
  • Proficiency with structural analysis and design tools such as RISA or STAAD
  • Basic knowledge of water treatment processes
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with a structural engineering focus, or equivalent relevant experience
  • Residence in the Mountain or Pacific time zones
  • Willingness to complete pre-employment background screening and drug testing
