Strategic Engineer – Electrical, I&C, Mechanical
Lead lifecycle planning, risk management, asset strategy, and technology integration across Vistra’s four nuclear power plants. Help support safe, reliable, and cost-effective fleet operations.
Description
- Develop and execute long-term lifecycle management strategies for Vistra’s nuclear fleet
- Build component replacement and refurbishment plans with schedules and key milestones
- Forecast Vistra’s future budget requirements from long-range planning
- Partner with cross-functional teams on major outages and preventive maintenance scopes
- Manage asset tracking across the full asset lifecycle
- Work with supply chain partners to maintain long-term access to reliable critical components and materials
- Assess operational risks and implement mitigation measures
- Identify and apply emerging technologies and industry best practices to improve fleet efficiency
- Assess how new technologies affect long-range plans and component lifecycles
- Deliver technical support across the fleet
- Build effective working relationships and communicate technical information clearly so work and repairs are completed correctly
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering
- Electrical, mechanical, chemical, or nuclear engineering background preferred
- Professional Engineer licensure or additional experience preferred, but not required
- Understanding of current and emerging regulatory, code, and industry matters
- Experience with technical evaluation methods
- Knowledge of nuclear plant technologies
- Eight years of experience in power plant operations, engineering, or a comparable industry preferred
- Ability to apply fundamental scientific principles
- Strong communication skills with colleagues, leaders, and external agencies
- Ability to deliver projects and strategies with limited oversight
- Consistently strong performance demonstrated through evaluations or external work history
