Staff Software Engineer, Marketplace Platforms — Walmart (Sunnyvale, Onsite)

Lead the development of scalable marketplace platforms for Walmart sellers and customers, with a focus on cloud-native architecture, AI/ML integration, and risk detection. Own delivery across the software lifecycle while guiding technical direction and engineering practices.

Description

  • Build infrastructure, tooling, and machine-learning frameworks that support roadmap priorities
  • Own software delivery from implementation and testing through deployment, monitoring, and maintenance
  • Use cloud-native architecture to create scalable, resilient, and adaptable systems
  • Lead design reviews to assess feasibility, quality, and architectural consistency
  • Develop AI-powered applications by integrating machine-learning components and automation across multiple programming languages
  • Mentor engineers and help shape technical decisions
  • Advance engineering quality through ongoing improvement initiatives
  • Partner with stakeholders to establish technical requirements
  • Measure outcomes and monitor success through data-informed practices
  • Build and operate marketplace capabilities covering products, pricing, seller lifecycle, customer interactions, and marketplace risk
  • Work with partner platform teams to improve seller and customer experiences on walmart.com

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or a related field plus four years of software engineering or related experience; or six years of software engineering or related experience
  • Expertise in cloud-native architecture, including microservices, containers, and automation
  • Strong command of software design patterns, API design, and platform development
  • Experience leading the full software development lifecycle, including coding, testing, CI/CD deployment, and observability
  • Ability to mentor and support other engineers
  • Proficiency in data-informed decision-making and requirements analysis
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a commitment to continuous improvement and innovation
  • Ability to work at the specified Sunnyvale, California location
