Staff Developer, Patient Booking — Jane.app (Canada Remote)

Lead the React modernization of Jane.app’s patient-booking SaaS for clinics. Shape accessible booking experiences, guide architecture, and mentor developers.

Description

  • Lead the architecture for migrating Online Booking and My Account to React
  • Define routing, data, state management, and legacy-to-modern code integration throughout the incremental migration
  • Assess technical risks and communicate clear implementation options
  • Contribute code each week with React, TypeScript, and Rails
  • Create reusable patterns for development
  • Advance accessibility through keyboard behavior, focus management, screen reader support, and testing
  • Support developer growth through pairing and code reviews
  • Collaborate with Design on the component library
  • Coordinate with teams responsible for pages in the booking journey
  • Manage phased releases with feature flags and production monitoring
  • Apply agentic AI workflows thoughtfully to accelerate the migration while preserving quality
  • Act as the technical lead for the Patient Booking Web team

Requirements

  • Approximately 10 or more years of professional software development experience
  • Background working at staff or technical lead level
  • Advanced hands-on expertise with React and TypeScript
  • Experience with client-side routing, browser history, and Redux Toolkit or comparable state management
  • Full-stack experience with a strong frontend focus
  • Experience progressively migrating a legacy frontend to React in a live production environment
  • Practical knowledge of WCAG 2.1 AA, including keyboard behavior, focus management, and ARIA
  • Ability to design APIs in partnership with backend engineers
  • Experience using feature flags, phased rollouts, and production monitoring
  • Demonstrated technical leadership, design documentation, decision-making amid uncertainty, and developer mentoring
  • Collaborative, low-ego approach to teamwork
  • Regular use of AI in coding workflows and interest in agentic workflows
  • Ruby on Rails experience is preferred but not required
  • Bonus: hands-on screen reader testing with JAWS or NVDA
  • Bonus: experience developing embeddable widgets or web components
  • Currently residing in Canada with the legal right to work there without employer sponsorship
  • Willingness to participate in AI-supported interviews
