Software Engineer, Web (Brazil Remote)

Build accessible JavaScript applications and reusable interface components for Puzzle. Deploy, monitor, and improve production systems on AWS while working remotely from Brazil.

Description

  • Build accessible web applications and reusable interface components.
  • Develop features with modern JavaScript and TypeScript frameworks.
  • Connect APIs, authentication, analytics, and third-party services.
  • Turn product and design requirements into production-ready experiences.
  • Ensure applications work consistently across supported browsers and devices.
  • Improve front-end performance, reliability, and usability.
  • Test key user journeys across browsers, devices, and network conditions.
  • Create automated tests and check accessibility, performance, and functionality.
  • Investigate production incidents and prevent recurring defects.
  • Deploy and maintain web applications in AWS environments.
  • Coordinate with Platform and SRE engineers on hosting and operational readiness.
  • Diagnose application and infrastructure issues in production.
  • Manage application configuration and environment-specific settings.
  • Monitor application health, errors, and performance.
  • Support deployments and rollbacks, and establish CI/CD workflows.
  • Write maintainable, well-tested code and take part in code reviews.
  • Use secure development practices to protect credentials and user data.
  • Record technical decisions and operational procedures.
  • Join the production support rotation as needed.
  • Work with Product, Design, Backend, QA, Security, and Platform Engineering.
  • Report to the Head of Engineering as an individual contributor.
  • Work with the Principal Platform Engineer on AWS infrastructure, deployments, monitoring, and operational readiness.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of professional experience developing production web applications.
  • Strong command of JavaScript and/or TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
  • Experience with a modern front-end framework such as React, Vue, Angular, or similar.
  • Experience building responsive, accessible web applications.
  • Practical experience integrating APIs and authentication systems.
  • Experience with browser security and common web application security practices.
  • Experience writing and maintaining automated tests.
  • Strong Git and CI/CD skills.
  • Practical experience deploying and troubleshooting applications in AWS.
  • An active AWS certification is required.
  • AWS Certified Developer – Associate is preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively across teams.
  • Comfort using AI-assisted and agentic coding tools while applying sound technical judgment.
  • Ability to develop software both with and without AI coding assistants.
  • Ability to independently design, write, debug, test, and maintain production code.
  • Ability to review and validate code generated by AI.
  • Ability to spot security, reliability, and maintainability issues in AI-generated implementations.
  • Ability to safeguard proprietary code, credentials, customer information, and other sensitive data when using AI tools.
