Senior Settlements Analyst – Leeds Hybrid

Lead GB electricity, gas, carbon and BESS settlement operations for TTEP UK & Ireland. Manage controls, reconciliations, credit activities and process improvements while supporting a small team.

Description

  • Direct daily GB Settlements operations, prioritise workloads, oversee delivery and serve as the initial escalation point
  • Complete core business-as-usual settlement work, including trade checks, confirmations, reconciliations, invoicing and month-end activities
  • Serve as the GB Settlements subject-matter lead, managing settlement calculations, controls and exception reviews across electricity, gas, carbon, BESS and ancillary services
  • Investigate settlement variances and reconcile outstanding items with internal teams, counterparties and market operators
  • Manage GB Trading credit and collateral processes, including exposure monitoring, postings and requirements
  • Implement settlements for new trading structures and commercial arrangements, including Energy Management, tolling, BESS and intercompany relationships
  • Manage the ETRM system’s operational use within GB Settlements and maintain accurate downstream settlement and Elexon notification processes
  • Coach and develop the GB Settlements Analyst through knowledge sharing, cross-training and process documentation
  • Establish business rules, calculations, controls and exception handling in collaboration with data, systems and development teams
  • Test and integrate automated settlement processes and analytical tools
  • Improve settlement processes, controls and reporting through continuous improvement initiatives
  • Manage projects from initial design through implementation
  • Maintain stakeholder and counterparty relationships while supporting regulatory reporting, market registrations and compliance work

Requirements

  • Substantial practical experience in settlements, trading operations, middle office or a comparable process and control environment is essential
  • Demonstrated ownership of complex operational processes, calculations and controls is essential
  • Experience performing reconciliations, invoicing and discrepancy investigations through resolution is essential
  • Experience coaching colleagues, providing daily leadership or serving as a senior subject-matter expert is essential
  • Experience delivering process improvements, change initiatives or operational projects is essential
  • Strong experience managing stakeholders and counterparties is essential
  • Working knowledge of GB energy markets and settlement or trading operations is desirable
  • Knowledge of the BSC and Elexon settlement framework, with the ability to build and maintain subject-matter expertise, is desirable
  • Knowledge of BESS and ancillary services, gas and carbon, Energy Management and tolling, and credit and collateral is desirable
  • Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving ability is essential
  • Ability to combine hands-on business-as-usual delivery with daily leadership of a small team is essential
  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills are essential
  • Proactive and organised, with the ability to deliver accurate work to tight deadlines, is essential
  • Strong Excel skills and confidence working with data are required; SQL, Python or BI experience is desirable
  • Ability to take ownership of process improvement and project delivery is essential
  • A degree or equivalent experience, preferably in a business, numerate or technical discipline, is essential
