Senior Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) — United States Remote
Senior Oracle DBA responsible for administering, securing, and optimizing Oracle and SQL database environments for a federal customer. The role covers backup and recovery, performance tuning, automation, monitoring, and incident response.
Description
- Administer, configure, maintain, and optimize enterprise Oracle and SQL databases
- Oversee database provisioning, installations, upgrades, patching, and server maintenance
- Create and maintain backup, restoration, high-availability, and disaster-recovery procedures
- Apply advanced tuning techniques across databases, queries, optimizers, and storage
- Implement database monitoring, alerting, security, compliance, and configuration standards
- Write SQL and PL/SQL scripts and automation to improve database operations
- Resolve complex database incidents, conduct root-cause analysis, and help prevent recurrence
- Partner with infrastructure, application, security, and operations teams
- Present technical issues and recommendations clearly to staff and management
- Participate in occasional scheduled after-hours patching, server reboots, and maintenance
Requirements
- At least 8 years of experience in database administration or closely related database disciplines
- Hands-on expertise with Oracle Database, Oracle Grid, Oracle RMAN, and PL/SQL
- Practical experience with SQL, SQL Server, SQL Clustering, SQL scripting, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, and Microsoft Access
- Experience building and administering standalone Oracle and SQL databases
- Background troubleshooting and triaging database and server problems
- Experience handling database and server maintenance, software installation, upgrades, and patching
- Knowledge of high availability, disaster recovery, backup, and restoration practices
- Experience with database performance tuning, monitoring, security, compliance, automation, and incident management
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multiple technical teams
- Strong communication, troubleshooting, and technical documentation abilities
- Must live in the United States and complete all work from within the United States
- Willingness to complete federal background or suitability screening and fingerprinting when required
- Availability for 8 working hours each day during the customer's 7:30 AM–6:00 PM ET core-hours window
- Ability to provide occasional scheduled after-hours maintenance support
- U.S. citizenship
- Professional Oracle certification such as OCP, OCA, or an equivalent credential preferred
- Current or previous federal background investigation or Public Trust status preferred
- Federal government or federal contracting experience preferred
- Experience with ServiceNow, Idera, SolarWinds, Oracle Enterprise Manager, Datadog, and/or Dynatrace preferred
- Experience with cloud database platforms, including Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, preferred
