Senior Mobile IoT Architect (Remote, US)

Description
- Lead architecture for React Native mobile apps and connected-device solutions
- Design secure, scalable, maintainable mobile and IoT systems
- Create event-driven and distributed solutions for messaging, asynchronous processing, and real-time data
- Connect mobile apps and IoT devices with APIs and backend systems
- Shape architecture and technical strategies around client needs and long-term goals
- Assess existing applications and environments, then recommend modernization and architectural improvements
- Turn business and technical needs into practical solution designs
- Set architecture patterns, technical standards, development practices, and integration methods
- Guide development teams through design and implementation
- Work with clients and stakeholders to understand challenges and explain technical solutions
- Lead discovery sessions, architecture discussions, design reviews, and solution presentations
- Surface technical risks, dependencies, scalability issues, and improvement opportunities
- Coordinate with engineering, product, security, and other technical teams on end-to-end solutions
- Offer hands-on technical guidance and contribute to development as needed
- Document architecture, technical decisions, integrations, APIs, and solution designs
Requirements
- At least seven years in software development, solution architecture, or a related technical field
- Substantial professional experience building React Native mobile applications
- A track record designing and implementing software and mobile application architectures
- Experience delivering IoT solutions involving connected devices, communications, telemetry, APIs, or IoT platforms
- Strong background in event-driven architecture, messaging, asynchronous communication, event processing, and distributed systems
- Experience connecting mobile apps to REST APIs, backend systems, and event-driven platforms
- Knowledge of modern architecture principles, design patterns, scalability, security, and system integration
- Experience in consulting or client-facing roles, translating client needs into practical technical solutions
- Ability to explain complex technical topics to technical and non-technical audiences
- Experience leading technically, advising on architecture, and mentoring development teams
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently in a consulting or contract setting
- Familiarity with IoT platforms and connected-device ecosystems
- Experience with MQTT, device management, telemetry, or device-to-device communication
- Experience with TypeScript, JavaScript, and Node.js
- Experience with Kafka or comparable messaging and event platforms
- Experience with distributed systems, microservices, and asynchronous architectures
- Experience with mobile CI/CD, automated testing, monitoring, and release management
- Experience securing mobile apps, including authentication, authorization, and data protection
- Experience integrating mobile applications with APIs, backend services, and IoT platforms
- Experience leading client discovery, estimates, proposals, or architecture engagements
