Senior Men’s Apparel Designer, Nordstrom Made

Lead seasonal design for Nordstrom Made men’s apparel, guiding collections from concept through production. Conduct fabric and silhouette research, partner across product teams, and mentor emerging designers.

Description

  • Oversee design and development for several apparel categories each season, from early concepts to final production samples.
  • Research global trends in seasonal silhouettes, colors, and fabric innovations.
  • Turn research into commercially viable design direction aligned with the brand’s point of view.
  • Work with Production and Sourcing to develop and source premium fabrics, yarns, trims, hardware, and construction methods.
  • Lead fittings and keep design cards and technical packs accurate.
  • Collaborate with Merchandising, Production, and Technical Design to maintain product integrity and support gross margin.
  • Manage, mentor, and coach direct reports at assistant and designer levels.
  • Prepare presentation boards, CAD artwork, and illustrations for leadership and merchant teams.
  • Keep an archive of seasonal concepts and artwork.
  • Report to the Design Director.

Requirements

  • At least eight years of progressive apparel design experience.
  • Experience designing for an established American lifestyle or heritage brand is preferred.
  • Experience designing outerwear, tailoring, or structured woven garments is preferred.
  • A bachelor’s degree in fashion design or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience managing, mentoring, and developing design team members who report directly to you.
  • Practical knowledge of fabric, silhouette, detail, fit, and finish development.
  • Ability to manage overlapping deliverables and meet seasonal deadlines.
  • A record of designing products that have achieved strong commercial results.
  • Deep expertise in garment construction, sketching, and fabric.
  • Working knowledge of merchandising and product development.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • A portfolio is required for consideration.
