Senior Marine Operations Manager - Honolulu, HI (Onsite)

Lead vessel operations, testing, and deployment for PacMar Technologies’ autonomous marine vehicle programs. Manage marine technicians, safety initiatives, contractors, equipment, and field activities.

Description

  • Direct marine operations involving boats, amphibious vehicles, and unmanned underwater vehicles
  • Partner with test directors, project managers, principal investigators, engineers, technicians, and researchers to plan and lead demonstrations, deployments, and field testing
  • Improve vehicle performance across propulsion, navigation, and communications systems
  • Define project requirements and coordinate vehicle deployments for data collection and experimentation
  • Identify and manage external contractors, vendors, partners, and subcontractors
  • Negotiate contracts and deliver reliable, high-quality services on schedule
  • Coordinate equipment transport and maintain organized remote storage facilities
  • Prepare personnel, equipment, and vehicles for field operations
  • Train internal teams and external organizations in marine-platform operation and maintenance
  • Supervise technicians and operators responsible for maintenance, repairs, and deployment
  • Guide shop apprentices in storage organization and general maintenance when needed
  • Develop marine safety programs and ensure compliance for equipment, materials, and notifications
  • Complete operational risk assessments and prepare contingency plans
  • Serve as charter captain for company vessels
  • Track project activities, support requirements, and progress
  • Review operational data, performance measures, and field feedback, then implement corrective actions
  • Help colleagues strengthen seamanship and boat-handling capabilities
  • Schedule harbor activities and operate, deploy, recover, and maintain vessels
  • Ensure adherence to safety procedures and applicable industry regulations
  • Process vessel registrations and maintain related documentation and records
  • Maintain equipment, tools, and maintenance documentation
  • Lead the development and rollout of standard operating procedures for marine operations
  • Complete additional duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Seven years of related experience
  • A related bachelor’s degree may replace four years of related experience
  • U.S. Coast Guard Captain’s License
  • Strong understanding of marine equipment, systems, and safety procedures
  • Proven ability to lead and manage a team effectively
  • Excellent critical-thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills in high-pressure situations
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for working with cross-functional teams and external partners
  • Strong organizational and project-management abilities, including prioritization across multiple projects
  • Working knowledge of regulations and standards applicable to marine operations
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
  • Self-directed approach and effective time-management skills
  • Extensive marine-operations experience, especially deploying and managing amphibious and unmanned underwater vehicles
  • Offer of employment is contingent on passing an employee background check and post-offer drug screen
  • U.S. citizenship and an active SECRET clearance or the ability to obtain one
