Senior Java Backend Developer
Build scalable data platforms for a global insights and strategy firm. Develop APIs, AI and LLM solutions, and data visualization features.
Description
- Support the organization’s vision and goals
- Design, build, improve, and maintain products and features
- Apply and assess AI and LLM solutions to business challenges and process improvements
- Work with engineers on technical architecture and complex engineering problems
- Follow software development lifecycle and documentation practices
- Create sound designs, write unit tests, automate testing where appropriate, and review code
- Partner across the organization to understand initiatives, assess needs, and recommend solutions
- Meet standards for performance, reliability, quality, security, and testability
- Maintain systems that handle high traffic and require high availability
- Adopt new technologies to improve applications
- Build scalable data visualization solutions
Requirements
- At least five years of Java experience
- At least one year of experience with both JavaScript and React
- At least three years of SQL experience, ideally with PostgreSQL or Redshift
- Knowledge of algorithms, data structures, object-oriented programming, and performance optimization
- Experience designing and developing RESTful backend services
- Experience writing and maintaining automated unit tests
- Experience with product experimentation, A/B testing, and business metrics or KPIs
- Experience working with cross-functional product teams
- Ability to implement and evaluate AI and LLM solutions
- Experience with software development lifecycle practices, documentation, code reviews, and test automation
- Preferred: Spring Boot
- Preferred: Python, C#, Go, C++, or C
- Preferred: AWS services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, or Redshift
- Preferred: Docker and Kubernetes
- Preferred: Machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, data preprocessing, and tokenization
