Senior Full Stack Engineer, Practice Engineering — Xero (Auckland Hybrid)

Join Xero’s Practice Tools team to build billing and partner capabilities with React, JavaScript or TypeScript, and Java or .NET. Lead AI-enabled delivery, infrastructure, automation, and engineering practices across New Zealand.

Description

  • Implement major billing updates for the Practice Tools domain with React, JavaScript or TypeScript, and Java or .NET
  • Deploy Xero Partner Hub across every global region
  • Decommission legacy HQ components after the hub launches
  • Bring authorization models into alignment with OAuth standards
  • Expand AI-powered automation throughout the delivery pipeline
  • Own essential infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and alerting
  • Drive adoption of artificial intelligence and the team’s move toward an agentic software development lifecycle
  • Evaluate AI-assisted development methods and coach colleagues in their use
  • Partner with engineers across New Zealand to deliver core Practice Tools capabilities
  • Administer staff permissions, practice provisioning, and system deletion

Requirements

  • Build web applications with React and JavaScript or TypeScript
  • Bring strong backend development experience, ideally with Java or .NET
  • Apply modern DevOps practices in day-to-day engineering work
  • Use CI/CD systems such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or Spinnaker
  • Implement and maintain effective monitoring and alerting
  • Have hands-on experience developing AI and agentic systems beyond basic prompt engineering
  • Mentor junior colleagues and help teams adopt new technical approaches
  • Take initiative and own complex technical problems independently
  • Show the motivation and capacity to progress into senior leadership
