Senior Frontend Engineer, Media Production (React/Next.js) — Remote in Dominican Republic
Lead the React and Next.js frontend for a high-traffic global news platform. You will shape headless architecture, performance, APIs, and AI-assisted engineering practices.
Description
- Own the design and delivery of a modern headless frontend architecture for a high-traffic news platform
- Coordinate major frontend releases against an early-next-year launch target
- Establish frontend standards covering code quality, component architecture, testing, and code reviews
- Manage Core Web Vitals, SEO, accessibility, and page-speed performance across customer-facing experiences
- Connect scalable headless CMS platforms with next-generation internal backend APIs
- Support mid-level engineers through mentoring and collaborate with engineering leadership on architectural decisions
- Apply and improve AI-assisted and agentic workflows throughout the engineering process
Requirements
- At least five years of senior-level ownership of production frontend systems
- Extensive production experience with React and Next.js, including SSR, SSG, ISR, and the App Router
- Advanced TypeScript skills with a focus on clean, type-safe implementation
- Demonstrated ability to integrate frontend applications with headless CMS platforms and APIs
- Strong knowledge of Core Web Vitals, CDNs, caching strategies, and asset optimization
- Regular experience using AI coding tools and agentic workflows
- Professional English communication for daily collaboration with a US-based team
