Senior DevOps Engineer at Upstream, Hybrid in Greece

Upstream is hiring a Senior DevOps Engineer to build cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes platforms, and deployment automation. The role supports highly available systems across on-premises and cloud environments.

Description

  • Shape artifact and container deployment strategies
  • Maintain and advance the immutable deployment platform
  • Build applications and tooling in Python and Go
  • Design high-volume, low-latency systems for mission-critical workloads
  • Implement on-premises and cloud infrastructure with VMware, AWS, and Azure
  • Improve cloud infrastructure cost efficiency, performance, and scalability
  • Create and deploy Infrastructure as Code with Ansible and Terraform
  • Diagnose system performance, connectivity, and security problems
  • Execute infrastructure upgrades, patching, and security hardening
  • Build CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or comparable tools
  • Enable local, Kubernetes, and cloud image build and deployment workflows
  • Support platforms using Java, Python, Go, PHP, and other technologies with Upstream engineers
  • Track performance, availability, and security across infrastructure environments
  • Automate deployments and consolidate platform metrics, reporting, and monitoring

Requirements

  • At least five years of hands-on experience in DevOps, systems infrastructure, or a related engineering field
  • Strong programming experience with Python, Go, and other languages
  • Experience administering Linux systems
  • Practical experience with Docker, Kubernetes, container-optimized operating systems, and cloud virtualization platforms
  • Experience designing and building tools and infrastructure for AWS, Azure, or comparable cloud platforms
  • Advanced knowledge of Ansible, Terraform, Helm, Jenkins, GitLab, Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, and related DevOps tools
  • Operational experience supporting cross-functional teams, maximizing availability, and resolving incidents through deep technical troubleshooting
  • Practical experience with VMware vCenter, cluster administration, and virtualized infrastructure
  • Hands-on experience managing bare-metal fleets, enterprise storage, and SAN networking equipment
  • Strong experience with PostgreSQL and NoSQL systems such as Redis, Elasticsearch, Couchbase, and Cassandra
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to learn new technologies
