Senior BI Data Engineer – Fort Collins, Colorado (Hybrid)

Lead enterprise analytics at Otter Products through Power BI and Microsoft Fabric. Build governed semantic models, ETL standards, dashboards, security controls, and self-service reporting capabilities.

Description

  • Validate data flows between systems and investigate ETL pipeline errors or discrepancies
  • Build and manage a Power BI Center of Excellence with reusable templates, design standards, and self-service resources
  • Act as the organization’s primary Power BI subject-matter expert
  • Deliver Power BI training sessions and organization-wide lunch-and-learns
  • Partner with data architects to shape data-system development
  • Develop semantic models and improve ETL processes for internal and external data ingestion
  • Work with cross-functional stakeholders to define data requirements
  • Coach and provide technical direction to data-team members
  • Establish standards for Power BI dashboard and report development
  • Define, administer, and improve data-quality standards, processes, and guidelines
  • Oversee the development and upkeep of data-quality metrics
  • Create and maintain standards for ETL development
  • Manage ETL code releases, including version-control practices
  • Implement layered access controls using RLS, OLS, and workspace roles for people and AI agents accessing certified semantic models
  • Assess emerging data-management, storage, and analytics technologies and make recommendations
  • Adhere to safety policies and support a safe workplace
  • Handle additional responsibilities as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; relevant experience may substitute for the degree
  • Computer Science or Mathematics degree preferred
  • At least six years of experience in an IT or analytical position
  • Background in database development, report writing, or statistics preferred
  • Professional Power BI experience required
  • Experience with DAX, Power Query, or SQL required
  • Ability to meet data-governance and data-security requirements
  • Understanding of ETL pipelines and related processes
  • Knowledge of semantic modeling, data visualization, and dashboard or reporting standards
  • Knowledge of RLS, OLS, and workspace roles
  • Ability to work a hybrid schedule in Fort Collins, Colorado
