Remote Infrastructure Engineer - AWS Data and AI Platforms at NatWest Group

Build secure, automated AWS infrastructure for NatWest Group’s data and AI platforms in a remote UK role. The position covers Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, self-service platforms and resilient cloud services.

Description

  • Engineer infrastructure technologies that support cloud-based data and AI platforms
  • Deliver project outcomes aligned with customer objectives and a considered total cost of ownership
  • Create and maintain Infrastructure as Code patterns, CI/CD pipelines and self-service capabilities across AWS environments
  • Operate secure, scalable and resilient data platform services
  • Maintain, manage and deploy technology infrastructure for business functions and investment projects
  • Partner with architecture teams to turn approved designs into secure, scalable and reusable cloud platform solutions
  • Review deployment documentation for departmental infrastructure components
  • Prepare baseline development environments and transition them to application and development teams
  • Build user acceptance testing environments and coordinate departmental infrastructure changes during system migrations
  • Develop technical test plans, document results and involve application and development teams in testing
  • Produce technical implementation plans and operational runbooks for system deliveries
  • Collaborate across feature teams to advance engineering standards, reusable patterns and Platform-as-a-Product practices
  • Work across the bank to extend networks and increase visibility of engineering initiatives

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of infrastructure engineering and resilient, cost-effective platform design
  • Experience building and operating Infrastructure as Code solutions with tools such as Terraform
  • Experience using cloud-native CI/CD platforms
  • Practical knowledge of AWS services including Amazon S3, AWS Glue, Lake Formation and SageMaker Unified Studio
  • Understanding of cloud data governance, security and access management
  • Broad knowledge of infrastructure layers and stacks, including areas such as mainframe, middleware and networking, or deeper expertise in one area
  • Understanding of the roadmap for the relevant area of expertise
  • Ability to work with design authorities to implement resilient, cost-effective solutions
  • Substantial experience contributing to technical roadmaps and strategies
  • Experience collaborating with third parties, validating deliverables and managing performance
  • Experience delivering secure, reusable and self-service platform capabilities in cloud environments
  • Awareness of emerging data and AI services, including Amazon Bedrock and SageMaker, and their use in secure, governed enterprise platforms
  • Strong collaboration and influencing abilities
