Remote Actuarial Analyst - Blue Cross NC

Support Blue Cross NC health-plan reserving, forecasting, rate filings, and healthcare analytics as a remote Actuarial Analyst. The role covers valuation, statistical analysis, financial reporting, and regulatory filing support.

Description

  • Conduct actuarial research, experience studies, statistical analyses, and related calculations
  • Calculate premiums and reserves for new and existing insurance plans
  • Assist senior analysts and actuaries with actuarial work
  • Collect and validate data used in rate filings and actuarial models
  • Enhance models and investigate changes in calculated factors
  • Assess the effects of product-line and segment changes
  • Update internal stakeholders on filing progress and submit rate filings to agencies including NCDOI and CMS
  • Collect and validate data for monthly reporting, UCL calculations, and ALR calculations
  • Run the ALR model and verify results to support valuation activities
  • Research ALR assumptions and develop support for UCL estimates
  • Distribute recurring reports and address related questions
  • Examine trends, variances, and anomalies
  • Perform control activities that support Enterprise Risk Management
  • Deliver analytical support for corporate and departmental initiatives
  • Maintain good standing in the Actuarial Development Program
  • Provide actuarial guidance and consultative support to Finance, Underwriting, Sales & Marketing, Network Management, Healthcare, and other business functions

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree, where applicable
  • At least two years of relevant actuarial experience; equivalent related experience may be considered
  • Current or recent graduates may be considered
  • At least three exams completed toward the ASA designation
  • Additional relevant experience may substitute for the minimum exam requirement
  • ASA attainment or additional ASA exams may substitute for the minimum experience requirement
  • Blue Cross NC does not sponsor employment authorization for this position
