Project Manager II, Land Development Civil Engineering

Lead multidisciplinary land development and civil engineering projects for Michael Baker International. Oversee budgets, schedules, design quality, client partnerships, and project teams.

Description

  • Build client partnerships that support successful project delivery and high-quality service
  • Direct project planning across scope, schedules, budgets, staffing, and execution strategies
  • Create and implement Project Management Plans for complex, multidisciplinary assignments
  • Lead and develop project teams through clear roles, responsibilities, and expectations
  • Plan and administer the resources required for successful project delivery
  • Provide hands-on project leadership that combines technical expertise with team direction
  • Assign and review design work, provide technical guidance, and maintain deliverable quality
  • Control schedules, budgets, resources, and performance to keep projects progressing
  • Confirm project execution meets company standards, client expectations, and quality requirements
  • Contribute to design and quality reviews with recommendations that improve project results
  • Work with clients, vendors, project managers, engineers, and cross-functional teams to resolve issues
  • Track financial performance and apply project controls throughout the project life cycle
  • Serve as the main client contact and maintain clear, effective communication
  • Coach and develop staff to support professional growth and team performance
  • Prepare, interpret, and review two-dimensional and three-dimensional engineering and design documents
  • Promote quality, compliance, best practices, and established project management standards

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
  • Seven to ten years of civil design and project management experience, including successful delivery of complex projects
  • California Professional Engineer license, or the ability to obtain one within six months
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary teams across locations, subconsultants, project budgets, schedules, and change management
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, negotiation, and decision-making capabilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for building effective client and team relationships
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Land development, site development, grading and drainage, utility design, and local or state agency permitting experience is highly preferred
