Private Cloud Infrastructure Operations Engineer at Cloudera — Czechia Remote

Operate Cloudera’s private cloud compute and storage platforms, with responsibility for health monitoring, governance, capacity management, and operational improvement.

Description

  • Monitor health, utilisation, and capacity across private cloud environments
  • Provision, configure, and manage compute infrastructure throughout its lifecycle
  • Analyse resource usage, produce reports, and promote efficient resource management
  • Administer quotas, address capacity constraints, and support growth planning
  • Provide first-line support by triaging incidents, applying established fixes, and escalating when needed
  • Apply operational standards, access controls, and governance requirements
  • Coordinate environment intake and provisioning for platform users
  • Operate compute and storage infrastructure, including server lifecycles, Ceph, and shared services
  • Keep operational documentation and runbooks accurate and current
  • Take part in the infrastructure services on-call rotation
  • Support initiatives that improve infrastructure efficiency and automation
  • Work within Cloudera’s Cloud Operations team across private cloud and broader infrastructure services

Requirements

  • A relevant degree at BS or MS level, or equivalent professional experience
  • At least three years operating cloud or virtualised infrastructure at scale
  • Strong Linux administration skills across RHEL, CentOS, or Ubuntu
  • Practical experience with distributed storage, preferably Ceph, or SAN operations
  • Experience with monitoring platforms, dashboards, alerting, and capacity planning
  • Virtualisation experience with OpenStack, KVM, VMware, or a comparable platform
  • Experience operating Kubernetes clusters, including node management and cluster lifecycle tasks
  • Ability to apply standards, report on compliance, and hold users accountable for inefficient resource use
  • Ability to create and maintain clear runbooks, procedures, and operational documentation
  • Strong communication skills for turning technical conditions into clear stakeholder reporting
