Principal Security Compliance Specialist (Remote, Massachusetts)

Lead enterprise security compliance across Akamai’s global cloud and edge platform. Build control frameworks, manage audits, and support authorization programs serving commercial, federal, and defense requirements.

Description

  • Lead security compliance initiatives across Akamai’s global enterprise portfolio
  • Direct compliance strategy across regulatory, industry, customer, and defense frameworks
  • Translate complex requirements into scalable control frameworks
  • Manage end-to-end audits with cross-functional stakeholders
  • Design unified control frameworks for commercial, federal, and DoD authorization programs
  • Partner with security architects, engineers, and system owners to develop, test, and maintain verifiable controls
  • Map controls to federal, defense, and international standards
  • Act as the technical liaison for assessment organizations, auditors, and defense agencies
  • Oversee assessments, evidence collection, and remediation of findings
  • Convert compliance gaps, audit results, and regulatory changes into risk models, reports, and executive briefings
  • Maintain continuous monitoring and recurring audit processes to support ongoing readiness

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of relevant professional experience
  • Bachelor’s, master’s, or other graduate degree
  • Experience managing security compliance across frameworks such as DoD SRG IL4/IL5/IL6, CMMC, NIST SP 800-171/53, FedRAMP, SOC 1/2/3, ISO/IEC 27001, PCI-DSS, or GovRAMP
  • Background working within a cloud service provider or serving as a consultant or assessor for a Third-Party Assessment Organization
  • Demonstrated ability to work with senior executives and government or defense stakeholders
  • Ability to turn compliance requirements into strategic business outcomes
  • Relevant credentials such as CISSP, CISA, CISM, CCSP, CCA/CCP, ISO 27001 Lead Auditor, or equivalent
