Principal Civil/Structural Engineer - Amentum, Reading (Hybrid)
Lead advanced civil and structural engineering work for Amentum’s science, security and sustainability projects in Reading. Apply seismic, blast and impact analysis while delivering robust designs and developing engineering talent.
Description
- Lead technically complex civil and structural engineering assignments
- Assess dynamic loads arising from seismic, blast and impact hazards
- Examine structural response and failure mechanisms, including ductility, nonlinear buckling and soil-structure interaction
- Investigate engineering methods, test assumptions and create first-principles solutions
- Verify sophisticated analysis models and prepare evidence for independent reviewers and nuclear safety regulators
- Plan interdisciplinary projects and oversee delivery, budgets and financial performance
- Maintain high technical standards across project outputs
- Coach, support and develop junior engineers and technicians
- Help maintain business and quality management systems
- Promote operational and design safety while strengthening the safety culture
Requirements
- Broad technical design experience with British and Eurocodes, preferably on heavy industrial-scale structures
- Demonstrated experience managing projects and producing deliverables covering quality, budgets, schedules and resources
- Experience preparing bids and proposals, with a proven ability to build effective client relationships
- An accredited MEng in Civil Engineering or a related discipline, or chartered civil or structural engineer status
