Description
- Evaluate trust agreements and related legal records for applicants to medical assistance programs
- Draft and send trust determination letters to medical assistance eligibility offices
- Research applicable federal and state law for trust-related eligibility decisions
- Review trust accountings for compliance risks and eligibility concerns
- Oversee recovery of trust balances due to the Department when trusts terminate
- Support administrative appeals and legal proceedings alongside the Colorado Attorney General's Office
- Advise on trust compliance and Medicaid eligibility obligations
Requirements
- Part-time legal professional with substantial experience in trusts, elder law, and/or Medicaid
- Juris Doctor preferred, or a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in accounting, finance, public policy, or another field relevant to the role
- At least five years of experience drafting, reviewing, and interpreting trust instruments and/or administering trusts
- Experience handling trust distributions, trust accountings, and tax filings
