Oracle Database Administrator - Texas Remote

Administer R+L Carriers’ enterprise Oracle database environments remotely from Texas. Maintain availability, security, performance, backup and recovery, and Data Guard continuity.

Description

  • Manage Oracle database instances and related services throughout their life cycle
  • Monitor database availability, capacity, storage, jobs, sessions, and system health using Oracle Enterprise Manager and SolarWinds
  • Install, configure, patch, upgrade, and decommission database software in accordance with change-control procedures
  • Keep configuration, maintenance, and operational documentation accurate and current
  • Assess database, SQL, wait-event, and resource performance, then implement tuning improvements
  • Manage indexes, statistics, tablespaces, memory settings, and capacity
  • Analyze recurring incidents and address root causes when feasible
  • Partner with application teams to improve data access and deployment practices
  • Run and validate Oracle backup, restore, and recovery procedures
  • Administer and test Data Guard and other high-availability and disaster-recovery solutions
  • Take part in recovery exercises and record outcomes, deficiencies, and remediation steps
  • Handle critical database incidents and assigned after-hours escalations
  • Administer database access, roles, privileges, auditing, and security settings
  • Remediate database vulnerabilities and complete required patching within approved deadlines
  • Complete project assignments and maintain accurate progress updates in Azure DevOps
  • Resolve Service Pro requests and exchange knowledge with database, infrastructure, and application teams
  • Offer technical direction and advanced troubleshooting support to application and infrastructure teams

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or a related discipline; equivalent practical experience may be considered
  • Three to five years of professional experience administering Oracle databases on Linux in an enterprise setting
  • Hands-on experience with production monitoring, performance tuning, patching, backup, and recovery
  • Experience supporting Oracle high-availability and disaster-recovery environments, including Data Guard
  • Experience automating processes with bash scripting
  • Experience contributing to projects and resolving complex database incidents
  • Knowledge of Oracle database administration, SQL, PL/SQL diagnostics, and performance analysis
  • Experience using Oracle Enterprise Manager, SolarWinds, Service Pro, and Azure DevOps
  • Understanding of backup and recovery, Data Guard, capacity planning, and storage management
  • Knowledge of database security, access control, auditing, and change-management practices
  • Ability to communicate clearly during incidents, maintenance, and change activities
  • Strong analytical troubleshooting skills with disciplined root-cause follow-through
  • Ability to collaborate with application, infrastructure, security, and database teams
  • Dependable ownership of production environments and assigned responsibilities
