Nursery Cook and Classroom Assistant - London Onsite
Prepare organic meals and support children across five North London bilingual nurseries as a nursery cook and classroom assistant. After probation, complete a paid Level 3 Childcare qualification.
Description
- Cover the main nursery chefs across all five locations during annual or sick leave
- Manage the day-to-day kitchen operation
- Prepare the organic menu, including morning snack, lunch, and afternoon snack
- Follow Food Standards Agency and Environmental Health hygiene requirements
- Create balanced rotating menus that reflect children’s dietary and cultural needs
- Maintain kitchen procedures and records
- Complete reasonable catering duties assigned by the Nursery Manager
- Wash crockery, cutlery, and cooking utensils in line with food safety guidance
- Have food prepared and served correctly at the required times
- Apply and uphold the company’s equal opportunities policy
- Care for children, supervise daily activities, and prepare activities and materials
- Assist room leaders and classroom teams caring for children aged 6 months to 4 years
Requirements
- Experience preparing food for large groups of children or adults
- Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate or higher
- Food Allergen Awareness training
- At least one year of childcare experience
- Knowledge of health, safety, and safeguarding practices
- Some childcare experience to provide classroom cover when needed
- Willingness to undergo thorough reference checks
- DBS Update Service verification and an equivalent DBS check from any country where the applicant lived before moving to the UK and within the past five years
