Multimedia Editor - Canada Remote

Description
- Edit and update website content to attract readers, deepen engagement, and expand audience reach
- Work daily shifts beginning at either 1 p.m. or 11 a.m., including occasional weekends
- Refine digital strategies for SEO, social media, breaking-news alerts, and user-generated content
- Coordinate with late-day multimedia journalists to align assignments with breaking-news priorities
- Identify opportunities for unconventional explainers and live coverage
- Develop ambitious journalism concepts while meeting or exceeding website performance goals
- Participate in editorial meetings to plan and deliver content
- Support production of the newsroom’s recurring reader newsletters
- Collaborate with the digital team, field reporters, assistant digital news editor, city desk, and deputy editor
Requirements
- Experience in daily digital journalism and editing, or the ability to develop those skills quickly
- Fluency across digital publishing and social media platforms
- Readiness to meet demanding newsroom deadlines
- Strong journalism and communication skills
- Ability to respond quickly and flexibly to changing news priorities and evolving situations
- Working knowledge of industry content, style, and legal standards, including libel and defamation law
