Description

  • Provide technical support for NASA’s Moon Base exploration systems.
  • Verify that Moon Base communications and tracking designs, hazards, planned operations, and verification activities meet applicable Safety and Mission Assurance requirements.
  • Review and provide feedback on Safety Data Packages, hazard reports and analyses, integrated hazard reports, non-compliance reports, and related safety deliverables.
  • Provide technical expertise during SRRs, PDRs, CDRs, TIMs, and critical contingency EVA pre-failure analyses.
  • Conduct technical and requirements-compliance assessments of development products and special risk assessments.
  • Assess end-to-end link robustness across emerging Moon Base communications architectures.
  • Verify that tracking and navigation systems satisfy safety-critical accuracy, redundancy, and fault-tolerance requirements.
  • Work with systems engineering, mission operations, and network providers to evaluate risks and confirm mitigations.
  • Review test plans, verification reports, and requirements for alignment with NASA safety, reliability, and applicable standards.
  • Support anomaly resolution, root-cause analysis, and corrective-action development for communications and tracking failures.
  • Monitor communications and tracking hardware for degraded performance and reliability issues.
  • Review reliability predictions, hazard analyses, safety assessments, and verification matrices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, aerospace, safety engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Working knowledge of personal computers and standard business software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to travel minimally and work periodic shifts.
