Develop calibration systems, analyze measurement uncertainty, and assess components for HII’s nuclear naval shipbuilding operations in Goose Creek. Partner with production teams and technicians using advanced metrology equipment and measurement techniques.
Description
- Design and assess calibration systems for measuring object characteristics
- Quantify error sources that contribute to measurement uncertainty
- Establish the reliability of measurement processes using quantitative methods
- Create calibration methods grounded in measurement science
- Analyze measurement challenges and define accuracy and precision needs
- Provide operations support with advanced metrology equipment
- Inspect finished and partially finished components and assemblies with metrology technicians
- Collaborate with production-floor technicians and craftspeople to resolve issues
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with no prior relevant exempt experience required
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program
- U.S. citizenship required
- Working knowledge of leading metrology hardware, software, and applications
- Proficiency with industrial metrology principles and methods
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Comfort working directly with technicians and craftspeople on a production floor
- Experience with SpatialAnalyzer preferred
- Naval shipbuilding or heavy steel fabrication experience preferred
- Ability to keep pace in a fast-moving team environment
