LOCA and Containment Engineer - Wilmington, NC

Perform thermal-hydraulic safety analysis for GE Vernova’s operating and next-generation BWR plants. Support containment, accident, fuel-performance, and design evaluations.

Description

  • Conduct plant safety analyses using two-phase thermal-hydraulic methods
  • Support reload and design work for operating and new BWR plants, including ABWR and BWRX facilities
  • Evaluate Emergency Core Cooling System Loss of Coolant Accidents, containment response and effects, hydrodynamic and pressurization loads, and fuel performance
  • Prepare, record, and present technical information for internal and external customers
  • Perform work in accordance with regulatory requirements, customer specifications, and business quality-assurance standards
  • Contribute to process improvement, New Product Introduction, team automation, and company initiatives
  • Work with mechanical design, core design, licensing, systems design, and related teams to develop customer solutions

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in nuclear, mechanical, chemical, or a related engineering discipline from an accredited college or university
  • At least one year of experience performing thermal-hydraulic analysis
  • Ability to obtain authorization to access U.S. export-controlled information, when applicable
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States
  • Experience applying thermal-hydraulic modeling to nuclear reactor systems is desirable
  • Experience working in a BWR or PWR environment is desirable
  • Experience with thermal-hydraulic system codes such as TRACG, TRACE, RELAP, or RETRAN is desirable
  • Experience programming in C#, FORTRAN, or Python is desirable
  • Prior nuclear engineering internship or co-op experience is preferred
