Instrumentation and Controls Designer – Dallas, Onsite

Designing PLC, SCADA, and DCS control solutions for industrial facilities and manufacturing projects. The role includes commissioning, troubleshooting, field support, multidisciplinary coordination, and mentoring junior designers.

Description

  • Develop instrument specifications and PLC, SCADA, and DCS control designs for industrial facilities
  • Design instrumentation and controls for industrial, manufacturing, and utilities projects
  • Prepare specifications and calculations for flow meters, analyzers, transmitters, and related field instruments
  • Conduct control system studies and troubleshoot existing systems to support client operations
  • Create conceptual designs and retrofit solutions for new and existing control systems
  • Produce instrument specifications, equipment selections, logic diagrams, loop sheets, instrument and I/O lists, and instrumentation plans
  • Lead instrumentation and controls design work across multidisciplinary engineering projects
  • Support field activities through on-site design, technical assistance, commissioning, and construction management
  • Coordinate with engineering disciplines and offices to deliver projects on schedule and within client requirements
  • Train and guide junior instrumentation and controls designers
  • Work with technical leaders, specialists, subject matter experts, project teams, licensed engineers, and clients to resolve complex challenges

Requirements

  • At least five years of experience documenting and designing industrial control systems, including instrumentation, control logic, PLC, SCADA, and DCS systems
  • Demonstrated proficiency designing with Revit
  • Experience delivering projects in food and beverage, advanced technology or data center, or life sciences environments, with attention to quality, cost, and safety
  • Working knowledge of area classification and coordination within control system design teams
  • Willingness to travel for installations, start-ups, client and company meetings, training, seminars, forums, and conventions
