Front-End Web Developer at Peraton — Onsite in the United States

Build accessible, high-performance React applications for Peraton’s government customers. Work across APIs, USWDS components, and cloud deployment tools supporting mission-critical national security systems.

Description

  • Create and maintain intuitive, accessible, high-performance interfaces for mission-critical government applications.
  • Develop responsive front-end applications with React, Node.js, and USWDS components.
  • Design reusable UI components and scalable, maintainable front-end architecture.
  • Build modular interfaces and client-side functionality with modern JavaScript practices.
  • Connect front-end interfaces to RESTful APIs and back-end services.
  • Improve build processes and asset bundling for modern web projects with tools such as Vite.
  • Support deployment and runtime operations in containers using Nginx for static hosting and reverse proxying.
  • Apply WCAG accessibility standards and government usability guidelines.
  • Diagnose UI defects, performance problems, and cross-browser compatibility issues.
  • Partner with data scientists, UX designers, product owners, DevOps, DataOps, and cloud engineers to deliver user-focused solutions and deployment-ready releases.

Requirements

  • Meet one of the following education and experience pathways: 5 years with a BS/BA, 3 years with an MS/MA, 0 years with a PhD, or 9 years with a high school diploma in place of a degree.
  • Demonstrated professional experience developing front-end applications with React.
  • Demonstrated professional experience developing front-end applications with Node.js and Express.
  • Demonstrated professional experience using the U.S. Web Design System (USWDS).
  • Demonstrated professional experience using Vite for build tooling and front-end bundling.
  • Demonstrated professional experience with Nginx static hosting, reverse-proxy concepts, and configuration.
  • Strong command of HTML5, CSS3, modular CSS, responsive design, and JavaScript ES6+.
  • Experience connecting front-end components to API services.
  • Experience working in Agile development environments with Git-based version control.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a distributed team.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Preferred: Experience with Snowflake queries, stored procedures, or SQL API concepts.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with AWS Lambda, API Gateway, S3, EKS, and ECR.
  • Preferred: Experience using the AWS SDK in Node.js or front-end applications.
  • Preferred: Experience with SQL, PostgreSQL, or a comparable database system.
  • Preferred: Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks.
